Beer Shadow Day
What is Beer Shadow Day?
The organizers of the Kandango Bicycle Tour and Martin City Brewing Company have partnered to create the inaugural Beer Shadow Day, in Martin City, Missouri. The event is inspired by the BRR (Bike Ride to Rippey). This is the original winter bike ride, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in Perry, Iowa. Thousands gather to celebrate the middle of winter with a 24-mile ride from Perry to Rippey. Several of our Kandango sheriffs will be in attendance, this year.
In 2016, we created the original beer shadow event, in PunxAnkeny, Iowa. Our own Sheriff Eman presided over the festivities. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house – make that beer glass. It seemed like a good idea to move the event to Martin City, after commiserating over a few Martin City beers with owner and Martin City Mayor – Matt Moore, or less, so we decided to create our own celebration, right here in Martin City.
Join us on Saturday morning for our own version of a winter bike ride and celebration. Bring your bikes and plan for a short bike ride to kick off the 2018 bicycle season. Festivities begin at 11 AM. At noon, Mayor Matt Moore will proclaim the arrival (or not) of bike season, followed by a short bike ride and scenic tour of Martin City, MO. We may even cross state lines to one-up our Iowa brothers and sisters, to make this a multi-state tour.
We return to the brewery for food, beer and fun. Drawings for prizes and discounts for on-the-spot registration. We will be simulcasting live with our sheriffs in Perry, where they will be reporting on the BRR ride.
Ride your bike to the event and receive an additional $10 discount.
A Ride through Winter Wonderland?
Why not? Compare the weather forecasts. Over two thousand riders are expected in Perry. It is a lot colder than Martin City. Bundle up, throw a leg over and man-up, or woman-up. Let’s find out what we are missing. I bet our beer is better.
